Frequently Asked Questions

8303 Whitesville Rd.

Columbus, GA 31904

Classical education is another term for Liberal Arts.  The Liberal Arts go well beyond our commonplace understanding of a basic college degree.  The Liberal Arts are foundational to the way God designed us to learn.  The Trivium (three paths) and the Quadrivium (four paths) comprise the foundation of all learning. The Trivium focuses on the art (skill) of words and the Quadrivium the art (skill) of numbers.  An individual who has mastery of words and mastery of numbers can really go on to learn anything.  This is how classical education truly lays a foundation for lifelong learning.

We concentrate education into three core days.  Instruction in core fields of study are given Tuesday through Thursday and then parents can choose Monday or Friday for a "practice or prepare day."  During this time students practice what they've learned or prepare through reading (once a student is reading) for the next academic day.

We are offering K-12 (through learning cohorts).

Our teachers make use of a number of resources to develop a scope and sequence for each class. In Classical Education teachers are trained to become the “living curriculum” that is able to personalize education within a class. For specifics on math and science, please ask.

We do not want tuition costs to be the reason that your child cannot attend Rivendell Academy, therefore we fundraise to provide a financial aid fund based on financial need.  We use Benefaq as our financial aid processor to determine financial need.

We do provide transcripts which meet all the criteria for college entrance. We are currently working with Concordis Education Partners to meet all standards and best practices and will formally begin the accreditation process in 2025-26.
